$2499 and up

The day
has come, Apple has finally made the first Nehalem-EP CPUs available and it offers a few super fast Intel’s server / workstation CPUs. The PC version should launch on March 30th.

The basic system comes with 2.66GHz Nehalem as the basic one and for $500 more you can get 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. The last option is a 2.66GHz CPU and all of these CPus can be purchased as single socket and in dual socket configurations.

The laughable part is that new Mac Pro’s are shipping with Nvidia Geforce GT120 with 512MB, or should we simply say G96 or Geforce 9500GT in disguise. Mac Pro comes with 3GB, 6GB, 9GB and maximal 32GB of memory, the choice of one to four Geforce GT120  with 512MB cards for SLI or Cuda calculations and Radeon HD 4870 for better performance.

This is what Apple tells about ATI’s card “Configure your Mac Pro with high-performance PCI Express graphics cards from NVIDIA and AMD. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 comes standard and easily handles typical graphics-intensive workloads. Or you can select the ATI Radeon HD 4870 for even more advanced graphics work. Add more than one card to power an array of displays simultaneously for visualization projects and large display walls.”

You can get them here.
