For bigger go to Core 2

One of Intel's
mobile VP's told us in a short conversation yesterday that Atom is not meant for bigger notebooks. If you want 12 inches or bigger you need to get Core 2 processors or Celerons, as he believes that Atom is not powerful enough for bigger screens

This is quite interesting as a 12-inch Dell Atom is available for some time now, Asus showed its 12-inch Atom and MSI even went for an Apple-esque 13.3-inch unit. We are certain that this will get into who can bring, bigger, yet cheaper Atom kind of scenario which will help to drop Intel’s mobile average selling prices even more. Atom might hurt Intel’s profit beyond anyone’s imagination as it meets the needs of the majority of consumers and costs next to nothing.

The same chap was clear that if you want more than 10 inches you better go for Celeron or Core2, to get better experience. MSI's 13.3-inch Apple Air lookalike Atom and Asus' 12-inch Atom should be ready in Q1 to Q2 2009 timeframe and we will keep an eye out for further developments.
