Qualcomm's recently announced Snapdragon 800 chip is pretty impressive on paper and according to a hands-on with the prototype tablet, it appears that all those numbers and theoretical performance works flawlessly in real life as well.
Pocket-lint.com had a chance to play around with a 10-inch 1080p tablet prototype that Qualcomm brought to show just what kind of punch does the new Snapdragon 800 actually packs. Already announced is its impressive ability to decode 4k UHD video with 7.1-channel surround sound as well 4k UHD video recording, but Pocket-lint had a chance to ty out modified version of Gameloft's The Dark Knight Rises game with improved textures that run happily at 30fps as well as Asphalt 7. Guys from Qualcomm also showed a neat demo of two clips encoded in both H.264 and H.265 and running side by side at 1080p.
It is obvious that the prototype will never reach the market but Qualcomm did note that there are over 50 new Android products with this chip planned to come out before the end of the year. Of course, a whole lot more will come with Snapdragon 600 chip and will be ready in the Q2 of this year.
We are quite sure that there will be much more devices with Snapdragon logo at MWC 2013 in February.
