From this we can tell two things. Based on a shared image, this is a notebook announcement and another post suggests it will involve a Core i7 8th Generation processor.
The 8th generation is the replacement for the Kaby Lake 7000 series processors and it should be significantly faster. The 8th generation was codenamed Coffee Lake and it should bring a six and quad core to next generation notebooks. Even the Core i3 version is likely to be updated to four cores, but we will have to wait for the official announcement to see what is Intel doing.
Coffee Lake is a sexed up 14nm, as Intel had a lot of time to practice with the aging tech. Whatever Chipzilla tries, it simply cannot pass this mark. In case you are confused there will be one more Intel notebook processor codenamed Cannonlake. This one is expected before the end of the year and it will likely target the thin and light (Core Y) market first. Cannonlake is Intel’s first 10nm that has been delayed more times than a Southern Rail train to Brighton during rush hour.
August 21 is a day before the Cologne based Gamescomm trade show, which heavily suggests that we will see the next generation six and four core Core i7 Coffee Lake processors. Intel plans to livestream the presentation at 8AM Pacific time (5 PM CET / 4 PM BST).
Intel clearly has not been consulting the stars over the launch. It is the day of the total solar eclipse which the Ancient Greeks thought was a sign of angry gods and that it was the beginning of disasters and destruction.
