AMD Ryzen 5 APU spotted in HP Envy x360 notebook

Quad-core CPU with Radeon Vega M graphics

According to a leak coming directly from HP's datasheet, AMD Zen-based APUs are just around the corner with Ryzen 5 2500U APU that comes with a quad-core CPU part and Radeon Vega M graphics.

While the HP datasheet, originally spotted by Videocardz.com, does not reveal a lot of information, it still has some details regarding the upcoming Ryzen 5 2500U APU, including the fact that it has a quad-core CPU part clocked at 2.0GHz base and 3.6GHz Turbo clocks, 6MB of cache and AMD Radeon Vega M graphics.

AMD did not talk a lot about its Ryzen Mobile Raven Ridge lineup but it did say that it will offer up to 50 percent more CPU performance, up to 40 percent more GPU performance and use 50 percent less power, compared to the 7th generation APUs. AMD also promised that Ryzen Mobile lineup will be available in the 2H of 2017 for consumer and 1H of 2018 for the commercial market, but we are yet to see it on retail/e-tail shelves.

In addition to the Ryzen 5 2500U, other leaks, including the performance leak spotted by PC Perspective, also point to a more powerful Ryzen 7 2700U SKU but we still do not have full details of the entire lineup. In any case, these Zen-based mobile chips should give Intel's Kaby Lake Refresh U-series CPUs a lot of trouble and hopefully score a lot of design wins for AMD.

The rest of the specifications for the leaked HP Envy x36015-bq101na notebook do not sound bad either, with 15.6-inch FHD IPS screen, 8GB of DDR4-2400 memory (support for up to 16GB of RAM), 256GB of PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD storage and Band & Olufsen audio.

Hopefully, AMD will be able to bring its Ryzen APUs to mobile and desktop markets soon.
