What makes the Core i7-8720HQ special, is that this is a proper 8th generation Core Coffee Lake CPU, packing a total of 6-cores and featuring enabled Hyper-Threading for 12-threads. It works at the 2.4GHz base and the 3.6GHz Turbo Boost clocks and, surprisingly, features 9MB of L3 cache.
According to CPU-Z screenshots spotted on Tieba forums and caught by Techpowerup.com, it scores 370 points in single-core and 2414 points in multi-core CPU-Z performance benchmark, making it similar to the Core i7-6700K or the Core i5-8600K desktop CPUs.
The Core i7-8720HQ Coffee Lake CPU is expected to launch in gaming and other high-end notebooks sometime in Q1 2018.
