Core Raptor Lake Refresh comes as i9-14900K, i7-14700K, i5-14600K

Intel has now officially launched its Core Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors which will be known as the Intel Core 14th Gen series. Launching at the same price points as the 13th gen counterparts, the Core 14th gen promises up to 23 percent better gaming performance compared to the competition, and up to 54 percent better performance in creator workflows.

40th anniversary with 5.0GHz Turbo

An engineering sample of the Core i7-8720HQ Coffee Lake mobile CPU has been spotted online, featuring six cores and twelve threads, reaching 3.6GHz Turbo Boost frequency.

New desktop CPUs will need the new chipset

As it officially announced its new 8th Generation Core CPUs, Intel has also released official pictures of the upcoming 8th Generation desktop CPUs, which confirm the requirement for a completely new 300-series chipset.

Running on Intel X299 chipset

Competitive performance 

There has been much discussion about the eight cores sixteen threads Ryzen CPU and the fact that it will compete quite well against Intel's Core i7 6950 extreme edition but it looks like the Zen with eight cores with sixteen threads will get really close to the performance of the Core i7 7700K.

It is obvious that Intel's Broadwell-E HEDT launch is drawing near as with all the previous leaks we now have some of the first benchmarks of the flagship ten-core Core i7-6950X.
