Threadripper launch dates leaked

by on21 October 2019

Remember, remember the fifth of November

Videocardz deep throats within AMD have been coughing up some launch dates on AMD's upcoming Threadripper lineup.

It looks like the dates for paper and hardware launches are"

  • 5 November for the formal announcement of the next generation HEDT CPUs
  • 19 November lifted embargos on reviews and actual product availability come 19 November.

AMD will only launch the Threadripper 3960X and 3970X come 5 November with a product announcement for the Threadripper 3990X which will only be launched in January 2020.

AMD will formally unveil its next-gen Threadripper TRX40 platform on 5 November. This beastie will not work with previous-gen Threadrippers.

The AMD deep throat didn't want to talk about clock speeds and core counts.  Word on the street is that Threadripper 3960X is expected to sport 24 cores and 48 Zen 2 threads.
