Apple's $400 wheels have a design flaw

by on28 February 2020

Apple didn't think wheels moved

While the fruity cargo cult Apple is famous for design over function and high price tags the outfit seems to have outdone itself with the Apple Pro.

When it was released the "giant cheese grater" could be shipped with $400 wheels which the Tame Apple Press touted as a game changing function which would enable PCs to become more mobile.

Since everyone knows that Apple invented the wheel everyone assumed it knew what it was doing, however it turns out that the wheel has a feature which no one actually considered – it moves.

YouTuber Marques Brownlee has discovered another pretty major flaw with those wheels: they don't have brakes. So, if you're planning to use them, you might want to take a spirit level to your desk or floor first. If it isn't perfectly straight, your $53k Mac Pro might just roll off into the sunset  to seek a fortune with an owner who has the wealth of Croesus and  the IQ of plankton.

After watching Brownlee's video, the omission of some sort of wheel lock is pretty obvious unless you are an Apple designer.

Of course this "feature" will enable Apple to gouge more of its customers by charging them another $400 for Apple approved wheel blocks.  Of course it would never occur to Apple fanboys to stuff a bit of paper under the wheels to stop them rolling – after all they shelled out $400 to make their PC roll.
