AMD's AM4 socket has been doing well and has gone through five architectures, 4 process nodes, and 125 processor SKUs, with AMD board partners making over 500 different motherboards.
At the Computex 2022 keynote, AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, confirmed that AMD will keep supporting the AM4 platform for years to come. While it is still not clear if we'll see new CPU SKUs or if it will just keep software support, it is great that AMD is not simply moving on and taking care of its loyal customers.
AMD's new AM5-based 600-series motherboards will bring DDR5 support, PCIe Gen5, better power delivery, and more, and hopefully, the AM5 socket will be as long-lasting as its predecessor.
