iFixit has rubbished Apple's latest "improvements" to its DIY repair programme so that it can heal borked MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops equipped with M1 chips (including the Pro and Max).  The problem is that Apple has managed to make its gear even less repairable than ever before.

While the Tame Apple Press has been telling the world+dog how wonderful their favourite company is for allowing fanboys to repair phones that they have paid a fortune for, those who know about repairing kits say the scheme is rubbish.

Design manipulation

iFixit co-founder and CEO Kyle Wiens has exposed how companies including Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft manipulate the design of their products and the supply chain to prevent consumers and third-party repairers from accessing necessary tools and parts to repair products such as smartphones and laptops.

IFixit have managed to prove that you really don’t get what you pay for when it opened the back of Apple’s Surface knock-off the iPad Pro.  Apparently you pay for a lot of glue to hold it all together and make it impossible to fix.
