Facebook blamed for eating disorders

Scientists claim
Latest research by Israeli scientists claims that spending time on the social networking site Facebook may lead to anorexia or bulimia.

Apparently this problem is common with girls from 12 to 18, and every hour spent on the site heightens the risk of developing an eating disorder. The reason for this, scientists claim, is that Facebook prompted users to examine their looks, habits and behavior much more than any of its social networking predecessors.

Naturally, researchers failed to note that the same group is most prone to developing eating disorders, what with the hormonal bombardment characteristic for that age. This would time and again point to Mother Nature’s tried and true ways of making things happen, but blaming Facebook is much easier and makes for a more interesting read.

We performed our own survey saying that scientists should lay off Facebook as soon as possible, for risk of being fired, looking utterly silly from a scientific point of view or simply divorced.
