It is not as crap as Microsoft and Google

Social notworking site Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has come out swinging at his critics who claim that his site abuses users' privacy.

Zuckerberg said that while his site does abuse piracy it is not as bad as Microsoft, Google and Yahoo. By comparison Facebook is the most privacy-conscious of the lot, he claimed.

His comments came during and interview for the Charlie Rose TV show. Zuckerberg named Microsoft, Google and Yahoo as the real internet villains.

He said: 'If you look at companies, whether it's Google or Yahoo! or Microsoft, that have search engines and ad networks, they also have a huge amount of information about you. 'It's just that they're collecting that about you behind your back... they're collecting this huge amount of information about who you are. But you never know that.'

Facebook was demonised because it was upfront about the information it extracts from its users. But punters have little or no control over the information that a company like Google or Yahoo! or Microsoft has about you.
