Trump lashes out at Google

by on28 August 2018

News is a tricky business

Donald Trump has taken a swipe at giant search engine Google, accusing it of being the peddler of what he likes to describe as fake news.

The problem is, the president apparently typed in “Trump News” into Google and it yielded results he didn't really like from news sources he doesn't like such as the Washington Post, CNN and the BBC. If he types in “Trump News” right now, he'll see a number of stories from those hated wires all about him slamming Google for fake news.

President Trump unleashed his favourite weapon of mass distraction, Twitter, to make the accusation.

He thoughtfully put some of the words in his Tweets in capital letters, for those unfortunate people who have problems with their eyesight. Or who are hard of hearing.

...they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD”, he said.

He alleged that Google and others “are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation – will be addressed!”

Google denied it was biased and “never ranks search results to manipulate political sentiment”.

No. What Google does if you are looking for a book is to turn up loads of links to Amazon, and if you're looking for a spade it turns up loads of links to Amazon. But if you're looking for a trumpet you get a musical instrument that can generate over 110 decibels. Normal human conversation is around 60-70 decibels. 150 decibels can BURST your EARDRUMS!
