Defacebook won't deface de Facebook

A former politician employed as a senior spin doctor by Facebook said politicians can never be accused of being economical with the truth.

Nick Clegg, who used to head the Liberal Democrats in the UK, said that posts made by politicians won't be fact checked by Facebook, according to a report from the BBC.

Clegg said that even if politicians posted pages on subjects regarded as taboo by Facebook algorithms, they wouldn't be fact checked.

But Clegg did not elaborate on which people Facebook defined as politicians.

Facebook, said Clegg, wanted to provide a “level playing field”, that is to say a field where the ball doesn't dribble down a 45 degree grass embankment to score an own goal.

Clegg admitted that Facebook got it wrong in 2016, when it was implicated in various political shenanigans.

Nick Clegg is 52 years old and was born in Chalfont St Giles. His mother is Dutch and his father is half Russian.
