Samsung wants to jack the prices of its semiconductor products up by 20 per cent.

This means that consumers paying more for new devices, and is being blamed on the economic “everything in the world getting more expensive these days” excuse.

Samsung said that cost of raw materials and logistics surrounding production pipelines were all out of control. In the US they blame Joe Biden, in Europe they blame Putin and Covid, but Samsung is a bit short of good reasons.

Samsung is a huge player in the semiconductor industry, producing processors for a wide-range of industries, as well as memory products, storage solutions, and foundry solutions which allow other semiconductor products to be manufactured.

Adding up to a 20 per cent price rise across all those sectors will inevitably push up prices for any products that use Samsung components.
