Six per cent of staff to go

Electronic Arts (EA) is cutting about 800 jobs, or six per cent of its workforce, culling a few projects and reducing office space.

According to an SEC filing the company expects to take impairment charges ranging from $170 to $200 million.

It appears that the axeman hath cometh at EA with projects under review and property use being questioned.

CEO Andrew Wilson wrote to employees that layoffs were "the most difficult part, and we are working through the process with the utmost care and respect."

EA had just under 13,000 employees, according to a quarterly filing in March 2022.
