The Wall Street Journal exposed the cosy relationship between Musk and some of his board members, who have been raking in millions from his companies while partying hard.
The report claimed that Musk and some of his pals have been snorting, popping, and tripping on cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, magic mushrooms, and ketamine - and some of them felt pressured to join in or risk losing his favour.
One of Musk’s mates, Oracle tycoon Larry Ellison, even offered him his island in Hawaii to chill out and get clean in 2022, but Musk said, “No, no, no.”
Musk has mocked the report on Twitter, saying, “No one has ever mentioned rehab to me.”
Board members have done nothing to stop Musk’s drug-fuelled antics, even when a judge scrapped his £40 billion pay deal last week, saying they were too close to him to negotiate appropriately.
The Journal claimed that Musk’s drug habit could spell disaster for his companies, as it could land him in trouble with the law, make him act crazy, or expose him to blackmail.
It could also jeopardise his lucrative contracts with the US government for his SpaceX rockets and affect his security clearance.
However, while NASA said it had no proof of drug use at SpaceX, Musk’s lawyer admitted he had never taken a drug test.
