Jobs’ Mob stops making Vision Pro

Tame Apple Press refuses to admit it made a mistake and say nevermore

The fruity cargo cult Apple has pulled the plug on producing its Vision Pro, its virtual reality (VR) headset.

The poorly designed headset, with wires everywhere, was released at an obscene price, even by Apple’s standards. It came into a competitive market late and without much in the way of supporting software. Apple insiders admitted that it was at best a beta product which was rushed out to demonstrate that Jobs’ Mob had not lost its mojo after its disastrous self driving car turned out to be vapourware.

Despite all this the Tame Apple Press [Tap] it is best to hail it as a groundbreaking innovation “with cutting-edge features and Apple’s signature design polish.”

Tap even claimed that the Vision Pro had "impressive" early sales even if these were only 200,000 units sold over a few months. Even with technology “journalists” ready to sacrifice their credibility to provide Apple with free advertising, it was not enough to sell this oven ready turkey.

As sales dried up, Taps tried to claim that while the Vision Pro delivered a top-tier VR experience, it was too expensive. It was only then that they realised that products like Meta’s Quest line, offered good VR features at a fraction of the cost.

Apple found itself sitting on a stockpile of unsold units—between 500,000 and 600,000, according to reports. With dwindling demand and no signs of an uptick, the decision to halt production became inevitable and it appears to have been done without making any announcement.

To fill this void, the Tame Apple Press is insisting that Apple isn’t stepping away from VR altogether and it is dusting off a rumour that Jobs’ Mob  will be releasing a cheaper model “one of these days”. However, while the rumour a $2,300 model was true a few months ago, that was before Apple stopped producing the Vision Pro.

Even if the rumour were true, Apple still has to face competition from the Meta’s Quest 3, which recently launched at just $329. The Vision Pro’s future was only assured if the metaverse idea took off, which it has yet to do so.

What is more likely is that Apple will write off its moves into VR and pretend it never happened. The Tame Apple Press will do the same thing – after all who mentions Apple’s self driving car now?
