Will sport Angry Birds helmet

Rovio Entertainment has confirmed that it will be entering into a partnership with Formula 1 star Heikki Kovalainen of the Caterham team, which the company will sponsor as part of its marketing for Angry Birds.

Kovalainen, who has professed to be a big Angry Birds fan, will be sporting a new Angry Birds-themed helmet this season as part of the sponsorship that started at the race this past Sunday in Australia. Kovalainen, being a Finn, is very pleased to be partnering with a Finnish company and representing such a unique and well-known brand.

Rovio is planning a co-branded merchandise line that will be coming in the spring, along with a web game that will feature Angry Birds game levels that have a racing theme. Additional Angry Birds racing-themed content is planned for a summer release.

With a sponsorship deal like this, we have to say that if the Angry Birds have not already arrived, they certainly will be taking their place on the biggest stage in motorsports. Hopefully, Kovalainen will have a much better season this year with the advancements the team has made with the new car; but it remains to be seen if that will be enough to get him up and able to fight the mid-pack teams.
