With Nvidia RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super reviews out and cards launching in force on July 9th, AMD had no choice but to drop the launch price of its upcoming RX 5700 series graphics cards.
We were honestly quite surprised that AMD has announced the RX 5700 pricing back at the E3 2019 event, putting the $449 MSRP for RX 5700 XT and $379 one for the RX 5700, while special RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition was set at $499.
According to the report from Videocardz.com, AMD will drop the price on all cards, so the RX 5700 will be priced at $349, which will allow it to successfully counter Nvidia's $399-priced RTX 2060 Super. The RX 5700 XT allegedly drops down to $399, and while it might end up slower than RTX 2070 Super, at least according to earlier leaks, it will be $100 cheaper as well.
The limited edition RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition will also drop down from $499 to $449, making it a bit more interesting as well.
AMD's Radeon RX 5700 series should hit retail/e-tail shelves on July 7th, and we should see plenty of reviews on that same day so hopefully, we will get a clear picture on performance-per-buck.
