Vivo Apex has a companion called Vivo Nex and this phone most likely will end up more affordable than Apex but it will come with a front face camera at the same spot at the Xiaomi MI 2S phone. A lot of people are not fond of it, but then again, the front face camera user interface will rotate when needed and it would put the camera on the top.
The company has a big event scheduled for June 12 and we do know that the Apex is likely to launch with the flagship Snapdragon 845 along with an 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.1 storage and an AI camera and on device support. The Nex may be powered by Snapdragon 710 playing the same strategy as Samsung with its A series and Huawei with its P20 and P20 lite. The Snapdragon 710 will definitely be fast enough and come at a cheaper price.
There is still no news on the Nex configuration. Vivo is traditionally not pursuing affordable pricing as some of its competitors do, but it definitely has a large fan base.
Essential has some patents on the pop up camera and it might be the one to launch a phone with a pop up camera, in case it still ends up on course to launch a follower to the ES-1.
