A slab of metal and glass with no holes

Although Meizu has pulled a fast one with its Zero, Vivo has now unveiled its own vision of a smartphone with no ports or buttons, the Vivo Apex 2019.

The Vivo Apex 2019, as the company has decided to name it in order to differentiate it from the Apex prototype showed off in February last year,  comes with quite a few interesting features. The first  is that it does not have any openings, showing off its flowing design with glass front and metal back, all with rounded edges.

The hardware behind the 6.39-inch AMOLED screen includes Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired up with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. It will also have 5G support and come with a piezoelectric transducer as a speaker. It has a dual rear camera setup with 12- and 13-megapixel sensors, but there was no word on the front one, but it might be lacking it or has a pop-up camera, something that could go well with such design.

Vivo also managed to include a full-display fingerprint scanner, meaning that you can touch any part of the screen to unlock the phone and features a MagPort at the rear, which will be used for charging and data transfer.

This is still just a concept smartphone, it shows the direction  Vivo might take with its future smartphones, the same as it did with the previous Apex and the NEX smartphone that followed up.
