The ROG Phone II was officially announced just a day ago. The phone comes with 120 Hz display, stereo speakers, 30W fast charging and stereo speakers. The refresh rate on the display can adjust from 120Hz to 90Hz and 60Hz. Refresh rate change on the phone is an interesting feature tailored for the gaming phone.
Qualcomm has officially stated that Snapdragon 855 Plus phones are coming in the second half of the year with a clear indication that this may happen much sooner than many expected. Now Asus has confirmed that this is happening just a week from now.
15 percent faster GPU
Snapdragon 855 Plus comes with a four percent faster CPU and 15 percent faster GPU and probably has slightly higher thermals compared to the Snapdragon 855 non-Plus. Gaming phones have been coming up with a unique and massive cooling solution as the OEMs had to deal with the assumption that end users will end up playing games for hours on them. The addition of faster charging is also a top requirement for the mobile gamer.
The question remains if Asus decided to go for the 5G version or if the 5G version will come at a later date. Qualcomm has been very vocal that 5G gaming will be a big thing, and everything is pointing in that direction.
