July 30 is the first day
Vega is delayed and while AMD said it will arrive in Q2 2017, it won't.
Vega for scientists, engineers, and designers
Raja Koduri, Senior Vice President and Chief Architect of RTG, took to the stage at the 2017 Financial Analyst Day and showed the new Vega Frontier Edition graphics card. This Vega is made for data scientists, immersion engineers, and product designers.
Industry sources confirmed
Well informed industry sources have confirmed to Fudzilla that Vega 10 GPU lines will launch in the first half of 2017. AMD’s Radeon Technology Group might start briefings about the Vega 10 in December, but it won’t launch it until the first half of 2017.
CPUs and GPUs are on 14/16 nm
Keith Kressin, a Qualcomm senior vice president, product management, reminded us how the world changed in the last ten years and that the mobile industry leads the transition to smaller manufacturing nodess. With Snapdragon 835 being the first 10nm, the mobile SoC with Qualcomm on helm takes the lead beating CPU and GPU industry to a new manufacturing node.
Return of the GPU Jedi
Nvidia, as you have seen, did an amazing job gaining a lot of the GPU high end and mainstream market. Pascal worked out great on the desktop and notebook, but it would be naive to expect that AMD is not going to come back with a vengeance.
Next, next generation
Vega 10 will evolve to Vega 20 in 2017 and 2018 and this will be AMD’s next big thing. It is codenamed Navi and will be a 7nm FinFET GlobalFoundries product that should surface in late 2018 or early 2019.
Replaces Vega 10, 32GB HBM 2
Vega 10 is Radeon Technology Group’s first HBM 2 part and should launch in early 2017. AMD – RTG is also planning a successor called Vega 20 that might launch later in the year.
Slightly faster than P100
Vega 10 is coming next year and it seems that it will be faster than the P100 card. P100 (21.2 TFlops) is a supercomputer part and has much higher theoretical performance than GP102 (10.97 TFlops). According to the raw numbers, AMD Vega 10 with 24Tflops, Vega 10 will significantly outperform Geforce Titan X.
Deluxe with early access for the price of standard
AMD is moving from the long tradition of bundling the Battlefield games but with the purchase of Radeon RX480 cards or Radeon RX480 based PCs it will get you the deluxe version of the game for the price of the standard version.
Fixes the problem and increases performance by 3 percent
AMD has an update for everyone who has a Radeon RX 480 and is afraid that the card might fry the PCIe slot on the motherboard. The new driver, that solves the problem and increases performance by up to 3 percent should be out today, July 7th.
