Following the earlier court order, whereby UK’s O2 was forced to disclose details on owners of IPs involved in illegal downloading of porn, the company will now have to send Ben Dover Productions’ letter to the aforementioned persons.
The UK High Court approved the text of the message. This means that 9,124 of users who were linked to illegal downloading of porn in UK will get the letter. Let’s face it though - the real number of these illegal downloaders is certainly much higher, it’s just that these are the ones that have been caught.
Ben Dover Productions said that it wanted to focus on those who uploaded movies to others. The company said that those who only downloaded a single flick will not be pursued.
The movie maker (Doesn’t it sound more professional than just porn maker? sub.ed.) said that the company will decide on future action depending on the response to the letters. Users will be given 28 days to reply and settlement money will be agreed upon individually with each “defendant”.
