All the money goes to manufacturing

There has been much talk about the latest CHIPS and Science Act, through which the US is attempting to advance an industrial strategy to revitalize domestic manufacturing jobs and secure semiconductor supply chains. This legislation is spectacular and well-timed, given recent de-globalization events and China's constant threat to Taiwan. And just days ago, TSMC had an event including POTUS in Arizona fab.

The mobile industry is definitely outpacing the manufacturing progress of both GPUs and CPUs and this is not going to change anytime soon. Apple lead the industry with millions of 7nm A12 SoCs, Huawei and Qualcomm are joining in, while the PC industry will get them slightly later with much smaller volumes and with the help of small AMD.

Financial community got it wrong

After Intel announced that it had to delay its 10nm production to 2019,  financial analysts around the world reacted with negative stock comments and valuation. Most of them got things wrong. Intel with its $17 billion highest ever revenue showed magnificent growth in the data center and it made that $17 billion without 10nm.
